Often these question arise in our minds: What are the changes? Does it involve reference Id? How to enable it? When will the changes be effective permanently? Let us go ahead and have these questions answered.<\/p>\n<p>Previously the Email-to-Case Settings screen looked like below. Please notice that a major role of Thread Id was involved.<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-9167 aligncenter\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/05\/image1-1.png\" alt=\"email to case settings\" width=\"1094\" height=\"575\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With the Winter 21&#8242; release it has been announced that the feature which involves thread Id, will be disabled.This is being done with the update named <strong>Disable Ref ID and Transition to New Email Threading Behavior<\/strong>. Currently it is configurable but it will be enforced by Salesforce from Summer 22&#8242;. Let us discuss what changes will be made and then moving forward we will discuss how to enable this in our current organisation.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"benefits-points\">\n<li>The email headers will be used for new threading behaviour and the header which are being used are <strong>Message-ID,\u00a0In-Reply-To<\/strong>, &amp;\u00a0<strong>References<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The EmailMessage entity saves a unique\u00a0<strong>Message-ID<\/strong>\u00a0for each incoming and outbound email.<\/li>\n<li>Salesforce automatically saves the\u00a0Message-ID\u00a0information for all standard outbound Email-to-Case emails created since\u00a0the Summer \u201920 release.<\/li>\n<li>The refence id(ref:_XXXXXXXXX._XXXXXXXXXX:ref) will not appear in any of the outbound\/inbound email.<\/li>\n<li>Apex method \u201cgetCaseIdFromEmailThreadId\u201d is deprecated and replaced with a new method \u201cgetCaseIdFromEmailHeaders\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Enabling The Feature<\/h2>\n<ul class=\"benefits-points\">\n<li>Go to Setup &gt; Release Updates.<\/li>\n<li>You&#8217;ll find this update among the others &#8211; <strong>Disable Ref ID and Transition to New Email Threading Behavior.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-9165\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2021\/05\/image3-1.png\" alt=\"Disable Ref ID and Transition to New Email Threading Behavior\" width=\"555\" height=\"261\" \/><\/p>\n<ul class=\"benefits-points\">\n<li>Click on Get Started.
